Update: The Crist campaign says it has agreed to take part in the debate, but has not agreed to specific details. This post’s original headline has been changed to reflect that point. One of the concerns is the involvement of Walsh, who gave $250 to Republican Mitt Romney’s failed bid for president.
Gov. Rick Scott and Charlie Crist, almost assuredly Democrat’s candidate for governor, will take part in a statewide debate Oct. 15 at Broward College.
The one-hour debate is being coordinated by the Florida Press Association and Leadership Florida. It will be broadcast in all Florida media markets and on the state’s public radio stations.
Moderating the debate will be Elliott Rodriguez, an anchor with CBS4 in Miami. Panelists asking questions include Rosemary Goudreau, editorial page editor of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, and Matt Walsh, editor and CEO of Observer Media Group.
In addition, the debate will feature a social media panel offering real time reaction. That panel includes the Naples Daily News Editor Manny Garcia, Bob Gabordi, executive editor at the Tallahassee Democrat, and Jeremy Wallace, political writer with the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
