Southwest Floridians won’t have to wait much longer before heading to the polls.
Early voting in the District 19 special congressional election begins Saturday and is open for all registered voters living in the congressional district.
Elections officials in Collier and Lee counties said while they don’t know exactly what to expect during the week-long early voting period, they’re hopeful voters will come out to the polls.
“I think we’ll see good turnout,” said Sharon Harrington, Lee County’s supervisor of elections.
Four people — Bonita Springs Republican Curt Clawson; Cape Coral Democrat April Freeman; Ray Netherwood, a Libertarian Party of Florida candidate from Marco Island; and Timothy Rossano, a write-in candidate from Fort Myers — are running in the special election to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Trey Radel.
