State GOP re-launches site Dems used to hammer Crist-as-Republican

File this one under “it seemed like a good idea at the time.”

Five years ago, the Florida Democratic Party launched CutandRunCrist.com, a website devoted to hammering then-Republican Gov. Charlie Crist for deciding to leave the governor’s mansion and run for the U.S. Senate.

FDP allowed its ownership of the website expire and it was scooped up by the Republican Party of Florida. As it turns out, the message used by Democrats to hammer Crist-as-Republican closely mirrors the message Republicans are now using to hammer Crist-as-Democrat.

“When Florida lost over 830,000 jobs and saw its unemployment rate triple thanks to Charlie Crist’s failed leadership, he didn’t stick around to help Florida families. Instead, he tried to run away to Washington,” said Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez Cantera in a statement announcing RPOF’s re-launch of the webstie.

The release notes “this is the third site once owned by FDP that now belongs to RPOF.”
The site includes a “what Democrats are saying section,” which includes officials from that party hammering Crist-as-Republican.

“As governor, Crist has had time to jet-set around on his cronies’ private jets, attend cocktail parties in Washington DC and hobnob with celebrities, yet he has done nothing to create jobs in Florida,” reads one quote, which was said by former FDP Chari Karen Thurman in 2009.
